50 Byward Market

Our store in Ottawa's historic Byward Market has been serving the residents of the nation's capital since 1954. It is the meat source for many of Ottawa's finest restaurants, embassies and members of Parliament. Many of the families shopping at the store have been doing so for generations.

Our experienced staff is always ready to help with suggestions on what to serve for that special event, or simply to help with tonight's dinner for the kids.

All of the store's merchandise is of the highest quality. We sell Alberta AA and AAA grade beef delivered daily and aged in the store. Fresh poultry is from Quebec, which produces Canada's best quality products. While chickens arrive fresh daily, the selection is greatest on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, when you can find fresh ducks, pheasants, guinea hens, Cornish hens, and much more, including our excellent foie gras and duck magrets. We feature the finest Canadian lamb from Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta, lean and tasty Ontario pork, and choice milk-fed veal.

Game meats have become a major part of our business. Most weeks the store displays fresh cuts of venison and bison, and there is always some caribou and wild boar in the freezer. At various times of the year, you will find elk and muskox as well. If we don't have it, we can probably get it for you very quickly.

Our sausages are made in house, and as well as the usual mild and hot Italian sausages, we always have 1 or 2 varieties of lamb sausage, and usually a fresh game sausage is available as well.

The summer barbecue season brings out our famous shishkabobs and marinated meats. Where else can you find a marinated duck kabob with Italian eggplant and kumquats?
